Makhana ki Kheer

Makhanas is rich in protein and calcium; together with low fat milk it makes a creamy and yummy sweet. Makhanas has no flavour of its own but nutmeg and saffron adds flavor and a mild taste. Here we provides a simple and easy Makhana ki Kheer recipe.
 
Preparation Time : 10 minutes
Cooking Time : 5 to 7 minutes
    Serves 4
 
Ingredients
ANANDA DOUBLE TONED MILK 5 cups
Lotus seeds (makhanas) 1 cup
Sugar substitute 1 tbsp.
Nutmeg (jaiphal) powder 1/4 tsp.
Strands saffron (kesar) 3 to 4
ANANDA GHEE 1 tsp.
For the garnish
  • Pistachio slivers2 tsp.
Method
  • Heat the ghee in a pan; add the makhanas and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes till they are crisp.
  • Remove from the fire and crush them slightly.
  • Heat the milk in a non-stick pan and when it comes to a boil, add the crushed makhanas and simmer for about 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Add the sugar substitute, nutmeg powder and saffron and mix well remove from the flame.
  • Serve hot garnished with pistachios.
